This was named in honor of Rachel's friend, Retired Colonel John William "Pat" Mitchell , who passed away after a fierce but brief fight with COVID-19. A military brat from birth, he lived all over the world. He proudly served our country for 30 years in the United States Army, with his amazing wife, Ruth, supporting him, always by his side, and taking pride in caring for their family. Colonel Mitchell served 3 tours in Vietnam and earned a variety of medals and honors throughout his career, including the Army Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Valor and many others. He was inducted into the Fort Sill Artillery OCS Hall of Fame and the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.
